In the last few years, Seattle has become a hotbed of burlesque acts, and truly fantastic burlesque can be hard to find. One thing I’ve discovered: when Lily Verlaine is behind a show, we are in for an incredible evening! Lily Verlaine and her collaborator Jasper McCann (creators of sold-out acclaimed Land of the Sweets: The Nutcracker Burlesque) are back with some of Seattle’s burlesque all-stars for Through the Looking Glass: The Burlesque Alice in Wonderland. The magic and spectacle of this famous tale is great fodder for live, vibrant burlesque performance. You’ll see way more than gals (and guys) taking off their clothes: this group is ripe with humor, incredible dance (ballet, tap and jazz), and some of the best costumes and set designs you’ll see at The Triple Door. Buy tickets now (their shows do tend to sell out) or read on to find out how you can enter to win 2 tickets to the show!
“Artistic Director Lily Verlaine & her collaborator Jasper McCann invite you to shrug off the squareness of reality and fall into their “incomparable…colorful and entertaining” (Seattle Gay News) re-imagination of Lewis Carroll’s classic tale of nonsense and fantasy. Come along with Alice as she discovers what wonders lie beyond the velvet rope at Wonderland’s most exclusive nightclub, The Looking Glass. Another exploration of numerous artistic influences, this production mixes jazz with classical, Indian and exotic music to set the mood as dancers from around the region mix ballet, tap, and jazz dance into a whirlwind of whimsy and bawdy beauty.”
Cast members I’m especially excited to see on stage include Lily Verlaine, Miss Indigo Blue, Waxie Moon, Polly Wood, Paris Original, Inga Ingénue, Lou Henry Hoover, Tribella, and Kylie Koyote.

“Without our smashingly hot and multi-talented Corps du Burlesque, The Looking Glass couldn’t be Wonderland’s hottest club, our stars wouldn’t shine so brightly, and perhaps even Wonderland itself could not exist…”
