Seattle Pockets readers have a chance to catch an early viewing of the new Les Miserables movie on December 18th at Pacific Place!
I can’t wait to see Anne Hathaway, Hugh Jackman, Amanda Seyfried, Helena Bonham Carter, Sasha Baron Cohen (YES!) and Aaron Tveit (who some may know from his lead role in Catch Me If You Can that premiered here in Seattle at The 5th Avenue Theatre) in this epic story with songs that pluck at the fiber of my being.
I heard from a friend and previous boss (who has years of experience working in the musical theatre field) that she loved it – she’s got fantastic taste, so I’m now 100x more excited to see the film! Check out the trailer here (I won’t watch it as I want to be surprised!)

I cannot wait to watch the movie, I have been waiting all year. I can’t wait to hear “I Dreamed a Dream”. But mostly, I can’t wait to see Anne Hathaway’s Oscar-buzzing acting, she is great actress, who can sing and act, and I could not think of a more perfect person for the role than Anne.
Thank you!

She is fantastic! The first time I saw her I wasn’t impressed but she’s really grown on me. Loved her as Catwoman and can’t wait to see her in this role.

I clicked the link and watched the first few seconds of the trailer. The first notes of a woebegone Anne Hathaway singing I Dreamed a Dream were all I needed to get my heart fluttering with excitement! I turned it off. I don’t want to spoil any of the magic by watching the clips out of context. This looks awesome!

I did exactly the same thing!! I have a sneaking suspicion that I might have to see this movie more than once!

I just saw CWU drama students perform Red and Black and do a fantastic job. Made me excited about Les Miz again. Can’t wait to see Sasha Baren Cohen in another musical role.

I loved the musical performance. I can’t wait to see the movie, I’ve seen the previews and it looks wonderful. If I don’t have to wait until Christmas even better.

Looking forward to the dashing Eddie Redmayne as Marius. He has that quintessential British coolness and won a Tony in 2010 for Red.

I haven’t seen Red – might have to check that out – thanks for the details, Colleen! Hope you are well!

I’m really curious to see Aaron Tveit pull off Enjolras! I saw him in “Catch Me” multiple times (thanks to student rush!) and even met him once so it’s very cool to see him in such a huge movie. And of course everything else the promising cast and the epic musical has to offer is making for one big build-up.

He really was something else in that show! Can’t wait to see him in quite a different production! That’s very cool you got to meet him.

I am entirely curious about Samantha Banks- she seems like she is more than capable o holding her own against the more known performers. And of course HUGH! And Anne- such a wonderful unfolding of this part of her skills and interests.

I am BEYOND excited for this movie adaptation of the musical. I’m looking forward to so many things about this movie such as Anne Hathaway as Fantine and “I Dreamed A Dream”, but I’m very interested to see Sacha Baron Cohen as Thénardier and his rendition of “Master of the House”. That should be amusing.

Can’t wait to see both Anne Hathaway and Hugh Jackman in action – cannot believe they do all the singing themselves, and live! So impressive. Based on what I heard in the trailer, I don’t think it will disappoint!

I am really looking forward to seeing Sacha Baron Cohen’s take on Thénardier. I thought is interpretation of Pirelli in Tim Burton’s adaptation of Sweeney Todd was good.

I’m excited to see Samantha Barks as Eponine. Eponine has always been the character that speaks to me the most across the book and the musical (despite the very different interpretations). She’s a sad character but she also has so much spirit. I have seen the musical and listened to the soundtrack so many times but every time I find something new to be amazed by. Earlier this week as I was listening to “A Little Fall of Rain,” I realize that the rain is an allegory for Eponine’s life: her parents are horrible people, she’s a grifter, she has dreams to be more than she is but can’t have them and the man she loves will never love her back. Yet in that moment during that song, none of it matters, it all falls on her but she doesn’t care because Marius is holding her and that’s enough.

I love all the songs, especially the chorus numbers, but I think I’m most interested in seeing how they filmed “Empty Chairs at Empty Tables”.
I’m very excited to see Colm Wilkinson as the Bishop, and the beautiful Aaron Tveit as the beautiful Enjolras.
I’m going to be a hot mess within the first 5 minutes of this movie! I just know it!
