The new year is my favorite time of year to visit the spa. The weather is right (cold), it’s a time for new beginnings—a time we let go of emotional things that are holding us back—and the perfect time to truly relax as we put the holidays behind us. Read on to learn more about the spa, then enter the giveaway below.
The Olympus Spa in Lynnwood is one of my favorites, and the largest in the area by far. This quiet/silent space is the perfect spot to venture for a day by yourself or with a girlfriend or female relative (my mom and I make a point of visiting together at least once a year).

Enjoy their three heated tubs (temperatures at 104, 97 (my favorite) and 90). For those brave enough to take the cold plunge, 60 degrees feels a LOT colder. I myself like to dip in the 90 degree pool to cool off after I enjoy the hotter ones. You can also step inside the steam room and herbal dry sauna. No bathing suits are allowed.
Around the corner you’ll be able to experience my favorite part of this spa that sets it apart from any others, their six heated (silent!) rooms. You’ll wear your robe in this area of the spa and enjoy hot rooms ranging in temperature from 90 – 170 degrees. In the sand room (my personal favorite), you’ll lay on a canvas floor (with sand under it) and listen to ocean waves, enjoying the 150 degree heat. Be sure to cool off between rooms in the lounge or the chill room (60 degrees).
The Sand Room (and many of the other rooms are more darkly lit than this image shows:

I like to give myself about four hours to enjoy the spa, which will include a meal at their casual Korean cafe. My favorite item is their bibimbap served in a stone bowl. The bowl is so hot that it cooks and crisps your rice while you eat it. Brandon hears me rave about this dish a lot, I wish he could experience it!
Be sure to bring:
– a non-glass water bottle (it’s important to stay hydrated with the heat)
– hair ties for long hair
– a real book or magazine (if you want to read in the lounge, they don’t allow devices, including kindles)
– your thoughts.
Only whispering is allowed in the hot tubs, sauna, steam room and lounge, and the heated rooms are silent. The Olympus Spa isn’t the space to go to catch up with girlfriends, though you can chat freely during lunch in the cafe.

It would probably be the Body Scrub & Moisturizing service. This winter has been especially harsh on my skin leaving it very dry, so it would be a welcome splurge!

I’ve always wanted to try out the Olympus spa, since I heard it’s a Korean spa and I’m an adopted Korean. I’ve had been a fear of getting naked around a bunch of other women but now that I’m older I need to get over that and experience it. I think what I would be most excited for is just to get the experience to enjoy the spa and eat at the cafe.

I’ve heard so much about this lovely spa since I moved to Seattle almost ten years ago, but I still have never been. My friend, Kelly, swears by the exfoliation scrubs and got one before her wedding. Rejuvenating after the holidays is definitely in order and I’d love to finally experience the Olympus Spa for myself.

In these cold, dreary days of winter nothing sounds more refreshing and rejuvenating than a day at the spa. I have only seen this place from the outside and never knew what hidden treasure lies beyond the front door. Hoping to get there soon for a preview and then book a full day there with my daughter when she finishes finals in the Spring!

Gosh! I tell people about the scrub ALL THE TIME! But have actually only gotten about a handful over the years. I have only done the moisturizing treatment once- it was remarkable! Utterly redefines the idea of ‘skin’.

It sounds like a perfect day! I loved banya 5 in Westlake but this all woman spa seems like a dream. I would love switching from the hot silent rooms to the cold plunge to the hot water. Is there a nap room? This place would be so good for my health both emotionally and physically!
