Here’s a new “Spotlight On!” post – entertainment and beyond that I’ve been enjoying or that’s happening soon:
Parke Diem returns! (Saturday, May 31)
This family friendly music in the park event is a great excuse to gather together some friends, a picnic, maybe bring some flow toys out, and dance in the grass at Volunteer Park. In past years, my experience is Parke Diem’s music is pretty chill (and a little more laid back than I usually dance to), and it’s a really lovely and welcoming event. I’m not familiar with the DJs playing this year, so I don’t know what exactly to expect with the music, but regardless, it’s going to be a great time. I so appreciate the folks that put energy and time into bringing this Springtime tradition back, year after year. Details here.

Riverdance 30 – The New Generation (May 30 – June 1)
Riverdance’s new show dances into town for just 3 days (5 performances). Celebrating the 30th reunion, “Riverdance 30 – The New Generation rejuvenates the much-loved original show with new innovative choreography and costumes and state of the art lighting, projection and motion graphics.” (Also, how gorgeous are these fabrics?!)

Tickets for Riverdance at The Paramount Theatre in downtown Seattle, here.
(Musical theatre fans: “Mamma Mia!” – which brings all the campy joy you’d expect from a show based around ABBA music) is back at The Paramount June 10-15.
“& Juliet” comes to town in late July and early August but I don’t know much about that show yet. If you’ve seen it, reach out! I’d love to hear your review.

NEW Stand-Up Comedy specials – Matteo Lane and more!
One of the kings of crowd work, I love watching Matteo Lane stand-up interactions with audiences at the Comedy Cellar. This silly, clever man is back with “Matteo Lane: The Al Dente Special” on Hulu. I laughed out loud many times. I have a fondness for him already (check out Matteo Lane Gives Advice full special on youtube), and this Hulu special was SUCH A treat! Also, damn what a fun time for stand-up: I’m stoked to see Sarah Silverman’s new special (out now) and over-the-moon to see that there will be new specials soon from the fabulous Atsuko Okatsuka. And YES I will find my photo with her from my birthday a few years back when she played Here-After shortly after her HBO Max special dropped. I don’t know if I’ve ever smiled bigger in any photo in my life. My pal Rusty gave me a HUGE compliment after seeing her, saying something to the tune of “I don’t think there’s a comedian that feels more “Keridwyn” than her!” I’m nowhere near as funny yet but I love that he recognized that my weird and her weird have some fun overlap! 🙂

Art from Henry Art Gallery’s Instagram: “in beauty it is restored” by Demian DinéYazhi´
Demian DinéYazhi´ is a transdisciplinary artist who explores the entangled relationships between the land, Native cultures, and settler-colonial systems. Drawing inspiration from the neon signs along Route 66 that traverse Diné Bikéyah (Navajo Nation), “in beauty it is restored” reimagines commercial signage to amplify Indigenous knowledge systems. The phrase “in beauty it is restored” references the Navajo concept of hózhó—a holistic philosophy encompassing harmony, balance, and well-being. (Read more about this artwork here.)

Happy 8th wedding anniversary, Brandon!

This photo Marina snapped earlier this month reminds me of quite a few lines from our vows, including:
“I will do my best…to let my inner-child
never-grow-up alongside yours…”
Thank you for all the magic you bring into my world,
love of my life!
