Can Can Cabaret in Pike Place Market is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year! The Can Can remains one of Brandon and my favorite experiences for a date night out and holds a special place in our hearts.
Their new show “Carnival of Curiosities” has only a few shows left (June 5 – 8). I almost missed this production and am so glad I didn’t! I wanted to make sure you knew it was happening. Details here.
Fun fact: shining star Jonathan Betchtel is also celebrating 20 years of Can Can! This performer and now part-owner has been delighting lucky audiences (especially those moms in the audience – wink) since the very beginning.
A night out at Can Can is full of laughter, sexiness, clever dance moves, fabulous costumes and voices, and a whole lotta heart. Plus it gives us an excuse to dress up in black, red, and white “carnival” inspired outfits!
(By the way, for all my costume-lover readers – and I know that’s most of you! – check out their wildly clever and fun “Style Guide,” complete with a variety of looks, with names like “Cirque du Sleek” and “Smoke and Mirrors”. They even created Pinterest boards for inspiration!
From the style guide: “Step right up and prepare to dazzle—Carnival of Curiosities is a spectacle of wonder, whimsy, and high-fashion showmanship. This isn’t just any night at the theater; it’s a grand affair where the bizarre meets the beautiful, the theatrical meets the chic, and every outfit is a statement. Whether you’re channeling the romance of Parisian cabaret, the boldness of a ringmaster, or the mystique of vintage vaudeville, this style guide will help you dress the part….”

The Can Can’s next show after “Carnival of Curiosities” starts June 12:
“Dolly and the Golden Tassel.”
Brandon and I saw this show in its previous iteration (read my review here). I was thrilled that the music was not just Dolly Parton but also clever blends of rock and pop songs by other powerful women.
There are some updates and changes in this year’s show: Dolly will be played by Carly Corey and the production will have even more musically oriented elements and visuals. I guess I’m just gonna have to go back to see it again – seems like the perfect excuse for a group friends-night-out!
