Balagan Theatre, one of Seattle’s best local theatres, is producing Avenue Q, which opens tonight! I’ll be taking a gaggle of friends with me to see the show this Sunday and can’t wait. I love the soundtrack (with not-for-the-easily-offended songs like “The Internet Is for Porn,” and “Everyone’s a Little Bit Racist”). Not only are the puppets beautifully designed for this production but the cast is stellar. I don’t think a Seattle actor has made me laugh harder than Kate Jaeger – I was thrilled to see that she was part of the cast lineup. The adorkable Diana Huey is also a joy to watch, with great comic timing and mugging. I can’t wait to see this production of the show in an intimate setting. Eric Ankrim (who directed Balagan’s Spring Awakening with rave reviews) is back as director – this guy is a rockstar onstage and behind the scenes: Seattle is lucky to have him. Review to follow next week, but I have to share this NOW with you since performances are selling out. Luckily, they just added a couple more performances! Buy tickets here. Bad Idea Bears, here we come!
Avenue Q in Seattle? I am so excited!!
