In its latest creative venture, The 5th Avenue Theatre has embarked upon a courageously ambitious production in “Marie, Dancing Still.” With gifted collaborators (written by Lynn Ahrens, music by Stephen Flaherty, direction and choreography by Susan Stroman) it’s very likely Seattle audiences are experiencing yet another up and coming Broadway hit.

Tiler Peck’s flawless dancing merges beautifully with her journey into the sphere of musical theatre. Mastering new artistry (beyond her New York City Ballet principal dancer role) to portray Edgar Degas’s “Little Dancer Aged Fourteen” as a spunky, impish ballerina was no simple task.

With an all-around exuberant cast, ingenious costuming, and brilliant Degas influenced backdrops, all cleverly ensconced in a frame of gold, “Marie, Dancing Still” has clearly captured a following in Seattle’s worlds of classical ballet and musical theatre.

Don’t let this production pass you by! There’s nothing quite like those 5th Avenue Theatre shows-in-the-making that take off on Broadway, and return to downtown Seattle’s beloved 5th, perfected beyond expectation.
