Hey, friends.
Here are some experiences I think you’ll enjoy:
Closing this week: The Pomegranate Tree
Dacha Theatre has created a delightful immersive theatrical experience. It closes this weekend and appears it’s sold out. (That said, if I really wanted to see the show, I’d email the box office to see if they’ll have extra tickets for sale at the door as sometimes the no-show rate for pay-what-you-choose shows can be higher than average.)
Immersive , playful, and interactive, The Pomegranate Tree invites us to wander around the cocktail party and interact w gods and deities and gives us a great excuse to dress up. Go in with curiosity, an open mind, and a willingness to interact with the characters. (And if you see some actors heading towards a door with intention, follow them! Not everyone I saw the show with realized there was a secret space upstairs.) It’s a healthy bit of escapism. This is the third Dacha Theatre immersive experience that Brandon and I have seen and we both agree it’s our favorite.

On sale this week: the musical SIX
Individual tickets to the musical “SIX” went on sale this week! Many friends have raved about the show and the images make me even more excited to see this pop musical comedy in May 2025 at The Paramount. (If you’ve seen the show, lemme know if you recommend I listen to the songs in advance or wait until I’m there live to hear them for the first time. I’m always torn on which to do for new-to-me musicals. (For Beetlejuice The Musical, I was glad I heard the songs for the first time when watching the show. For Hamilton, I was glad I listened to the songs many times in advance!) About the show: “From Tudor Queens to Pop Icons, the six wives of Henry VIII take the microphone to remix five hundred years of historical heartbreak into a Euphoric Celebration of 21st-century girl power!” SIX won a Tony Award for Best Original Score.

May 2025 is far off but it’s always fun to have plans on the calendar to look forward to, right? In the meantime, I’m heading to The Paramount tonight to see Wicked (which plays now through December 1!).
Other entertainment I’m enjoying
Current read: “Strong Female Character” by stand-up comedian Fern Brady. I’m listening to her read her audiobook and I love her voice and sense of humor. (Her book, like her stand-up is both fantastic and not for the faint of heart or easily offended). Google Books writes: “Witty, dry, and gimlet-eyed, this is a necessary corrective in a world where Autistic women are all either written off as quiet and docile, or erased entirely.”

Guilty Pleasure: The Floor (game show). It’s so basic and simple (does “name this image” count as a trivia game) but fun to play along with. It definitely hits the pause button in my mind on everything else. Some healthy escapism is just fine with me right now. (watch on Hulu)
Show I’m stoked is back: I haven’t started Season 3 of “Somebody, Somewhere” yet but I’m so excited it’s back for one more season. If you haven’t seen Season 1 of this poignant, funny, authentic, unique, and bittersweet comedy/drama, get in there. There is so much to love about the show and Bridget Everett is so incredibly talented on so many levels. I also loved seeing her on youtube yesterday as a guest on Mike Birbiglia’s fantastic podcast. Birbigs has great tastes in comedians and she is one of his favorites. (watch on Hulu)
Can’t get enough of video clips of: Jeff Acuri. His improvisational comedy crowd work makes me giggle outloud with delight. (Thanks, Rusty, for introducing me to this talented dude!)
Place I’m so grateful for: Carkeek Park. Yeah, it’s cold, but bundle up: I find being on the water there so calming. (Thanks, Michelle, for re-introducing me to this peaceful space.)

What are some upcoming events (or ongoing entertainment experiences) you recommend? Let me know in the comments or on FB or IG.
Sending you lots of love!
