Sitcom Improv, Folklife, Motown, and Dancing in the Park: Upcoming Seattle Events

As my friends know, I love planning ahead. Here are some fun events on my radar I thought you all might want to know about.

May 19 & 20: Very Special Episode at Jet City Improv

vse

Very Special Episode” is an incredibly clever improv show at Jet City Improv in the U District that has its closing weekend this Thursday and Friday, May 19 & 20. Inspired by 80s and 90s sitcom episodes that took a moment to provide us with “teachable moments,” the direction of this show is superb and the cast is incredibly talented. I know it seems like it takes a lot of effort to turn off Netflix and get off your couch, but the laughter you’ll enjoy is SO worth it, people. Also, they serve popcorn. Prepare yourself: you will probably leave the show with a crush on at least two actors. BONUS: Your ticket purchase goes to support some seriously incredible youth outreach programs.  (Insert “The More You Know” music).

May 27-29: Northwest Folklife Festival at Seattle Center

This donation-only festival is one of the best in the region. Enjoy a wide variety of music and performances at the Northwest Folklife Festival at Seattle Center May 27 – 30. I love the poster artwork this year. Absolutely stunning!
May 31-June 12: Motown The Musical at The Paramount in downtown Seattle
motown
Motown The Musical will tour onstage The Paramount Theatre in downtown May 31–June 12! This show celebrates the stories and songs of one of my favorite times in music history. Stay tuned for a future post on this show!
June 4: Parke Diem at Volunteer Park on Capitol Hill
parke diem
Parke Diem is a free day of DJ’ed music on June 4 at Volunteer Park. Bring your hula hoops and dance in the grass.
